Is face book not for college kids only?

I was told that in the beginning that college students set this up for a place to go to chat. And that you must be eighteen years of age to get in the chat room. How do you get kids to comply with this age limit. I know 14 years olds are on here.

Is face book not for college kids only?
u'll find 14 yr olds on every single social website, whats the big deal? lol u know the person age when they start talking/asking silly questions.
Reply:anyone can use facebook.
Reply:face book only ask for general information you don't have to put your ssn on the page to register, you can just make any birthday or fake name you want. I think it's for anyone how want's to chat.
Reply:Umm...you've posted this in the wrong category. It should be in something like Computers or Internet, not Makeup.
Reply:i'm not a student, and i'm on facebook, you can't get them to obey the age limit, cos they will just lie about their age to get in anyways
Reply:I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to.. Originally Facebook was created as a networking site for Ivy League colleges. It spread to colleges around the nation. At that point, in order to log into Facebook, you had to have an email address linked to a college server.

Since then, it has been spread to high schoolers and, most recently, to all people. There are 14-year-olds on FB because it is open to high schoolers. I suppose kids younger than that could create an account, but I don't know of anyone that has.

I don't know of a "chat room" that you have to be 18 to get into..
Reply:I'm young and i have it.
Reply:anyone can go on facebook. there is no age limit
Reply:High school students are also using facebook now.
Reply:face book is also open to high school students.
