Hey, do colleges check your internet history?

Like your face book and your conversations with your friends.

Hey, do colleges check your internet history?
No...they don't. That's a major invasion of privacy for starts, and unless you've done something incredibly illegal that would merit the attention of the college you're applying, to then NO. they won't. They're interested in your grades and achievements, not your Internet life. No one would get into college based on their Internet activitiy, BELIEVE me!
Reply:Your profiles on social networking sites, like FaceBook and MySpace, are in the public arena, so yes, they can do searches to check them out, however your conversations are private, or at least you have the expectation of privacy, so they are strictly out of bounds.

However, saying that a college admissions officer could check out your profile does not mean they actually will check it out. It is very unlikely that they will, consider how many students are applying and how long it will take to conduct those searches.

In the future it is very possible that potential employers will check those profiles, so, my advice is to not put up anything too embarrassing, because it may come back to haunt you!
Reply:uh well they can, but do you really think they have the time to read all of your conversations? maybe just one person yeas but the whole entire college worth of conversations? i think not but i have been know to be wrong.
