3 years ago i was 18 years old in sophomore in college, n i've never had a bf or never had someone loving me i always had love from one side relations that ofcourse was me loving someone n never got it the opposite way n never had the nerve to tell someone that i had a feeling for them, i'm not ugly or fat i'm ok i'm just a shy person n i had my best friend that always dated n she used to tell me about her relations i was the wise one in my group always people came to me for advice, n then my friend told me about this guy she knew about online n he was cute n she showed me the pic n told me he liked her n then i decided i want to make an account my self and start meeting just new people n then it came across my mind to talk to that guy so i looked for the mail my friend sent me with his pic and took the name from the photo file n started searchin for the guy on msn n bingo i got it right i started talking with him n i was very tough n very straight forward - i never had relations with guys and i didn know how to deal with guys - n although i was tough he was flirtin n then suddenly i felt attracted to him alot n sent him a mail telling him i love him, n so we started a long distance relation online i was very happy having someone at last in my life my friend knew about it n she got mad for a while n then she let it go n everything was fine, after 4 months of dating online i got that mail from an anonymous person tellin me that person i'v been dating is in fact a girl named "sarah butt" and she's been impersonating a guy and she has several relations like this online and that i'm not the only one ofcourse i panicked and had the hardest time ever i felt weird i never seen except one pic from that person and never let me know about his friends n never talked about specific issues of his family either so i talked to him online and told him about the strange mail i got so he told me it's a girl i used to date n she's jus angry am dating u now and she wants to get us apart so - like an idiot - i believed him cos i loved him and as they say love is blind and so i continued dating him and then i asked him to send me more pics but weirdly every pic he sent me is so small so u can't check the face or so the pic he sent me of his body without a face so i started to get suspicious of him being a phsyco girl so i started to dig up some truth so he told me he has a friend called jason and this jason will send me a pic of him and he sent me a pic of his naked upper body as if it's a joke and i kind of liked it it was guy that was muscular n i thought wow my bf is hot n i started talking with jason he was pretty much like him in everyway and then he said he had another friend called zack that is their group (yasser, jason and zack) yasser was my bf and zack has another gf and jason was jus a common friend between them so as the days passed yasser told me once he had a friend that had been kidnapped and was at hospital n he had to visit her of course i went jelous n asked is she cute n stuff like that so he told me she's cute n don worry n he comforted me i believed him and he usually meant to get me jealous like tellin me this gurl kissed me cos she thought am her bf when she was at the hospital and stuff like gurls at college always hit on him and i used to get jealous am away and i don get to see what exactly was happening behind my back it was a pleasure for him to get me jealous so i always used to talk about him with my best friend and i asked her where did she knew him she said she knew him in a chat room and girls there were calling him gay and then she got to know him and they started being friends at that time and then we three used to stay all night chattin everyday and i skip school the next day cos i couldn't go i was tired people noticed change in my life i wasn't me everything started falling apart, so someday he was talking with me online and had always told me he wanted to propose always told me he wanted me n getting me blushy more and more so once he wrote a strange word in my window it was k00lcatz i asked him wat's that he said oh sorry i was writing my password to someone n i wrote it accidently here so i let it pass and then i noticed something in the mails that yasser used to send me and those of jason's too that at the header of the mail both had the same ip address although each one lives in different houses, i started collecting info about how to get into someone's else computer and it was too hard to learn but it lead me to how to get into someone else's hotmail after alot of searching and googling i got the whole image how to get into someone's hotmail i got his mail and stole the password n got into his mail n to my shock i saw another girl was sending him mails as if she's his gf i txt msged him and told him i got into ur mail u bastard and saw the love mails from the other girl n to my surprise she was that other kidnapped girl he told me about to my surprise either she's another girl that had never seen him in reality so he lied to me n said she's zack's girl friend and that him and zack shares the same hotmail account n they both have the same password and id to my surprise zack had the same birthday same college same class everything is identical and jason too although it was a different yahoo account but he had the same credentials i used his mail and logged on all websites he was registered in n asked for passwords n they were sent on his mail i got his sms.ac password and id i took this password and tried it on jason's account it worked so it occured to me the same person always thinks of one password if he had many accounts so he wouldn't forget them this person turned out to be jason and zack and yasser all in one character and every time i confronted him he lies out of it he was very talented at lying he was so mysterious liar always knew what to say although all his lies were so lame n hard to believe but he just lied so i decided i'll talk to this other girl her name was ashley she also knew this person online n told me she recieved the same anonymous mail telling her it's a girl called sarah butt impersonating zack and yasser it was a pretty damn shock for both of us and then i went into the profile page in the mail i noticed his alternative email and he managed to ask hotmail support to give him his mail back n he got it but after a while i found that alternative mail added me as a friend and i talked with that person she was a girl called sarah has the same birthday same college and same style of talking i decided i'll get into her mail too i did and found a specific mail of something she bought online it was a device that turnes a girl's voice to a guy's voice i told my friend about that mail i found n told ashley what i discovered cos this girl too has the same ip address of zack's and jason's and yasser's mails and it turned out to be that all 4 characters are jus one maniac gurl called sarah butt and strangely i got a phone call from UK and i answered i was told hi i'm sarah's mum and she's been playing with u and another girl called ashley and i want u to block sarah's and yasser's adds from ur list and jus continue ur life, and her sister talked to me and told me sarah has problems and thats why she's doing this i jus was surprised how could she be so easy on her after what she knew about her. Surprisingly the next day sarah still acting as yasser acted as if she doesn't know what was happening n i told her i spoke to ur mum she kept telling me don believe that it's someone else trying to break us apart and people are just playing with u n his mum didn't talk to me and it was jus this other girl that was so angry that he left her for me it's so frustrating as i remember these incidents and she played as if she's still a guy and uptill now for three years she's trying to act she doesn't know and she's a guy called yasser, anyway this girl uptill now is trying to convince me she's a guy that loves me and intending to marry me and i have heard her voice a couple of times when she called as a girl and then turns a to a guy's voice she keeps lying and telling me u heard wrong it was someone behind me so lame lies i don't believe her she keeps sending me expensive gifts she sent me a lot of books i wanted to buy and a gold necklace and a nokia n76 mobile phone and an ipod and that ipod was stolen from me so she sent me another ipod and she never sends me pictures of her as a yasser she keeps lying and i catch her but she never admits she's a girl and that's so frustrating i donno what to do, i asked her if she was a guy then come to my country and show me her self she said she'll be here on april 10th, 2008 i know for 100% sure she's a girl and i donno do i keep taking expensive gifts from her or do i act as if i believe her that she's a guy it's so frustrating that u know someone is constantly lying to u although u know the truth but they wouldn't admit i just wanted to share my story with people and hear their opinions this incident is leaving a big scar in me and i don't trust anyone anymore i'm 21 years old now and i graduated college n now i work but i jus keep thinking about it n i jus thought i wanted to share....
I've had the most bizarre story ever? it's long but i'd appreciate if u read it to the end?
Please read Ann Rule's book "Too Late to Say Goodbye". A similar bizarre situation happened to a dentist's wife.
Reply:Ok. That is a very interesting story. Me, i would just end it right then and there. It's no use to keep going on with a fake relationship. but one thing i must say, I think it's pretty weird that she sends you gifts..you know. Maybe she's afraid to tell you that she's a lez or sumthing.idk. But i have had a similar problem. Im 15 years old and yeah, i dated online. I still am. But my advice to you is just wait and see if he/she comes in April, if he/she doesnt come, then ditch them. He/she is only hurting you by playing around. Iv'e been played around with many times. So yeah
jus ditch him if he doesnt show up.
Good Luck

Reply:total gayness. you need to stop cyber love and get someone you can really see and really love!! Your older then 18 this sounds like some 15 year old would write.
Reply:ok ...now I guess your d day is 4/10 ...The serial killer and all his personalities now knows all about you .... Have a good life ... whats left of it!!!
Reply:that was a very long, very disturbing story.
I think you should cut all communications, she sounds mentally unstable, besides do you really want to have a relationship with anyone who lies like that?
Reply:I read everything, and this is stupid.
Stop taking all these damn expensive gifts from her, and just cut off connection or something.
She's probably a lesbian and she's afraid for you to know, or she's an extremely giving person who just likes to pose as a guy.
She could be planning on some scheme, too. Damn. I wish I could access someone elses account..... anyway. Just ditch her. And this is a huge reason why we don't get into online relationships.
But hell, if you still want to play along, then go ahead.

What do you think of this short inspiration story?
Let's see if you send it back. We all know or knew someone like this!!
One day, when I was a freshman in high school,
I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school.
His name was Kyle.
It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?
He must really be a nerd."
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.
His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him.
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes.
My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.
As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks."
They really should get lives.
"He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"
There was a big smile on his face.
It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.
As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before.
He said he ha d gone to private school before now.
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.
We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends
He said yes.
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.
I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!
" He just laughed and handed me half the books.
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.
When we were seniors we began to think about college.
Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke..
I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem.
He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship.
Kyle was valedictorian of our class.
I teased him all the time about being a nerd.
He had to prepare a speech for graduation.
I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak
Graduation day, I saw Kyle.
He looked great.
He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.
He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.
He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.
Boy, sometimes I was jealous!
Today was one of those days.
I could see that he was nervous about his speech.
So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled.
"Thanks," he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began
"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach..but mostly your friends....
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.
I am going to tell you a story."
I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met.
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
"Thankfully, I was saved.
My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.
Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.
Never underestimate the power of your actions.
With one small gesture you can change a person's life.
For better or for worse.
God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way.
Look for God in others.
You now have two choices, you can:
1) Pass this on to your friends or
2) Delete it and act like it didn't touch your heart.
As you can see, I took choice number 1.
"Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."
There is no beginning or end.. Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift.
If it comes back to you, then you'll know you have a circle of friends.

As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes. We hung all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him. And my friends thought the same of him.
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Damn boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!" He just laughed and handed me half the books. Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. When we were seniors, we began to think about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship. Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak.
Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than me and all the girls loved him! Boy, sometimes I was jealous. Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. "Thanks," he said. As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began.
"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach... but mostly your friends. I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story." I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met.

What are your thoughts on this story??amazing?
Wow that is absolutely great and a lesson to us all.
Reply:My heart went out to kyle and I was so thankful that someone helped him. I had a simular problem when I was in school. Kids would throw rocks at me because I wore glasses. The most popular boy in our school came up one day on his bike to rescue me from the kids throwing rocks. He had me get on the back of his bike and he road me all the way home.
It made me so grateful to know that there still was someone out there that cared about me. It also gave me strength to go on because I knew there were still loving people in the world and they were not all bullies and hateful.
Thanks for the story! It made me feel thankful all over again!

Friends
One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friend tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.
As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives." He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. More on Julius and Ethel Rosenberg?
Julius Rosenberg (May 12, 1918 – June 19, 1953) and Ethel Greenglass Rosenberg (September 28, 1915 – June 19, 1953) were American Communists who received international attention when they were executed for passing nuclear weapons secrets to the Soviet Union.
In the 1990s, Soviet communications decrypted in the VENONA project were released which supported the general allegations of espionage by Julius, though not supporting the specific charges on which the Rosenbergs were convicted. Also supporting the conviction were Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev's posthumously published memoirs.

[edit] Background
Julius Rosenberg was born to a Jewish family on May 12, 1918 in New York City. He became a leader in the Young Communist League where, in 1936, he met Ethel, whom he married three years later. He graduated from the City College of New York with a degree in electrical engineering in 1939 and in 1940 joined the Army Signal Corps, where he worked on radar equipment.
Ethel Greenglass was born on September 28, 1915, in New York City, also to a Jewish family. She was an aspiring actress and singer, but eventually took a secretarial job at a shipping company. She became involved in labor disputes and joined the Young Communist League, where she first met Julius. The Rosenbergs had two sons.
According to his former KGB handler, Alexander Feklisov, Julius Rosenberg was originally recruited by the KGB on Labor Day 1942, by former KGB spymaster Semyon Semyonov.[1] Julius had been introduced to Semenov by Bernard Schuster, a high ranking member of the Communist Party USA as well as Earl Browder's personal KGB liaison. After Semenov was recalled to Moscow in 1944, his duties were taken over by his apprentice, Alexander Feklisov.[1]
According to Feklisov, Julius was his most dedicated and valuable asset, providing thousands of classified reports from Emerson Radio including a complete proximity fuze, the same design that was used to shoot down Francis Gary Powers's U-2 in 1960. Under Feklisov administration, Julius Rosenberg is said to have recruited sympathetic individuals to the KGB’s service, including Joel Barr, Al Sarant, William Perl and Morton Sobell. [2]
According to Feklisov's account, he was supplied by Perl, under Julius Rosenberg’s direction, with thousands of documents from the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics including a complete set of design and production drawings for the Lockheed's P-80 Shooting Star. Feklisov says he learned through Julius that his brother-in-law David Greenglass was working on the top secret Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, and used Julius to recruit him.[1]
During World War II, the USSR and the US became allies in war, but the US government was highly suspicious of Joseph Stalin's intentions. As such, the Americans did not share information or seek assistance from the Soviet Union for the Manhattan Project. However, the Soviets were aware of the project as a result of espionage penetration of the US government and had made a number of attempts to infiltrate its operations at the University of California, Berkeley. A number of project members—some high-profile, others lower in rank — did voluntarily give secret information to Soviet agents, many because they were sympathetic to communism[citation needed] (or the Soviet Union's role in the war) and did not feel that the US should have a monopoly on atomic weapons [3]
After the war, the US continued to resist efforts to share nuclear secrets, but the Soviet Union was able to produce its own atomic weapons by 1949. Its first nuclear test, "Joe 1", shocked the West in the speed it was produced. It was then discovered in January 1950 that Klaus Fuchs, a German refugee theoretical physicist working for the British mission in the Manhattan Project, had given key documents to the Russians throughout the war. Through Fuchs' confession, US and UK intelligence agents were able to make a case against his "courier", Harry Gold, who was arrested on May 23, 1950. A former machinist at the top-secret Los Alamos laboratory, Sgt. David Greenglass, confessed to having passed secret information on to the USSR through Gold as well. He testified that his sister, Ethel Rosenberg, and her husband, Julius, had also passed secrets. Another accused conspirator, Morton Sobell, fled to Mexico City, but was later deported back to the United States for trial.
[edit] Trial and conviction
Police photograph of Julius Rosenberg after his arrest.
Mugshot of Ethel Rosenberg. The case against the Rosenbergs and Sobell began on March 6, 1951. The prosecution's primary witness, David Greenglass, stated that his sister Ethel typed notes containing US nuclear secrets in the Rosenberg apartment in September 1945. He also asserted that a sketch he made of a cross section of the implosion-type atom bomb (the one dropped on Nagasaki as opposed to the "gun method" triggering device that was in the one dropped on Hiroshima) was also turned over to Julius Rosenberg at that meeting.
From the beginning, the trial attracted a high amount of media attention, and like the trial of Alger Hiss, generated a largely polarized response from observers, some of whom believed the Rosenbergs to be clearly guilty, and others who asserted their innocence.
Although the notes typed by Ethel apparently contained little that was relevant to the Soviet atomic bomb project, this was sufficient evidence for the grand jury to indict Ethel and enough for the jury to convict on the conspiracy to commit espionage charge.
It is believed that part of the reason Ethel was indicted along with Julius was so that the prosecution could use her as a 'lever' to pressure Julius into giving up the names of others who were involved. [4] If that was the case, it did not work. On the witness stand, Julius asserted his right under the Fifth Amendment to not incriminate himself whenever asked about his involvement in the Communist Party or with its members. Ethel did similarly. Neither defendant was viewed sympathetically by the jury.
The role played by Assistant United States Attorney Roy Cohn, the prosecutor in the case, is controversial, since Cohn stated in his autobiography that he influenced the selection of the judge, and pushed him to impose the death penalty on both Ethel and Julius Rosenberg.
The Rosenbergs were convicted on March 29, 1951, and on April 5 were sentenced to death by Judge Irving Kaufman under section 2 of the Espionage Act, 50 U.S. Code 32 (now 18 U.S. Code 794), which prohibits transmitting or attempting to transmit to a foreign government information "relating to the national defense." The conviction helped to fuel Senator Joseph McCarthy's investigations into anti-American activities by US citizens. While their devotion to the Communist cause was well documented, the Rosenbergs denied the espionage charges even as they faced the electric chair.
The couple were the only two American civilians to be executed for espionage-related activity during the Cold War. In imposing the death penalty, Judge Kaufman noted that he held them responsible not only for espionage but also for the deaths of the Korean War:
“ I consider your crime worse than murder...I believe your conduct in putting into the hands of the Russians the A-Bomb years before our best scientists predicted Russia would perfect the bomb has already caused, in my opinion, the Communist aggression in Korea, with the resultant casualties exceeding 50,000 and who knows but that millions more of innocent people may pay the price of your treason. Indeed, by your betrayal you undoubtedly have altered the course of history to the disadvantage of our country. No one can say that we do not live in a constant state of tension. We have evidence of your treachery all around us every day for the civilian defense activities throughout the nation are aimed at preparing us for an atom bomb attack.[5] ”
Their case has been at the center of the controversy over communism in the United States ever since, with supporters steadfastly maintaining that their conviction was an egregious example of persecution typical of the "hysteria" of those times (see McCarthyism) and likening it to the witch hunts that marred Salem and medieval Europe (a comparison that provided the inspiration for Arthur Miller's critically acclaimed play, The Crucible).
At the time, some Americans believed both Rosenbergs were innocent or received too harsh a punishment, and a grass-roots campaign was started to try to stop the couple's execution. Other Americans felt that the couple got what they deserved. Pope Pius XII appealed to President Dwight D. Eisenhower to spare the couple, but he refused on February 11, 1953, and all other appeals were also unsuccessful.[1]
[edit] Execution
The couple were executed at sundown in the electric chair at Sing Sing in Westchester County, New York, on June 19, 1953(Delayed because of the Rosenbergs appeal to the Court of Appeals, Second Circuit). (Originally scheduled for later in the evening after the start of the Jewish Sabbath, their lawyer, Manny Block, filed a complaint that this offended their Jewish heritage -- so the execution was scheduled before sunset.) Reports of the execution state that Julius died after the first application of electricity, but Ethel did not succumb immediately and was subjected to two more electrical charges before being pronounced dead. The chair was designed for a man of average size; and Ethel Rosenberg was a petite woman: this discrepancy resulted, it is claimed, in the electrodes fitting poorly and making poor electrical contact. Eyewitness testimony (as given by a newsreel report featured in The Atomic Cafe) describes smoke rising from her head.
Ethel and Julius Rosenberg are interred at Wellwood Cemetery in Pinelawn (Suffolk County), New York.
[edit] Posthumous revelations
In 1995, the National Security Agency publicly released documents from the VENONA project, an effort to decrypt intercepted communications between Soviet agents and the NKVD/KGB. A 1944 cable from New York to Moscow clearly indicates that Julius Rosenberg was engaged in espionage for the Soviet Union, though the importance of his effort is not clear, particularly considering that the Soviets were receiving information on the Atomic bomb from Klaus Fuchs, Donald Maclean and Theodore Hall. Ethel's involvement is not clear from the VENONA transcripts. A document from November 27, 1944 [2] specifically about Ethel lists her as a "fellowcountryman" and claims that she was aware of Julius' work. Ethel was apparently never assigned a code name — the only reference to her states she "does not work." Julius was always referred to as "ANTENNA" or "LIBERAL" — which has cast doubt onto his significance and involvement. In his memoirs, published posthumously in 1990, Nikita Khrushchev praised the pair for their "very significant help in accelerating the production of our atomic bomb." Whether this was in fact the case, however, has been disputed [6]
Faced with the VENONA transcripts and periodic revelations from former Soviet intelligence officials and archives, most critiques of the Rosenbergs' prosecution today centers on the usefulness of classified nuclear information provided by the Rosenbergs to the Soviet Union, the severity of their punishment, and the fact that not all Soviet spies were caught, and not all who were caught were prosecuted by the U.S. government. David Greenglass claimed that the atom bomb information believed to be given to the Soviets by Greenglass was quite poor in comparison to the information given by Fuchs, who had a much more intimate understanding of the research being done (revealed by records of Fuchs' detailed transmissions in selective releases from Soviet archives). There was also significant information provided independently of Fuchs by the young scientist Theodore Alvin Hall, as well as a number of other agents, the identities of whom have not yet been fully established.
Fuchs's data were the most valuable of all the Soviet atomic spies, giving a range of specific information on everything from nuclear physics details, production of the plants for uranium enrichment, and the exact values for the bomb design itself.[7] However, it was standard Soviet intelligence policy to use several intelligence sources if at all possible, as any information the Rosenbergs provided could serve as a control to check the accuracy of other intelligence.[1]
David Greenglass was spared execution in exchange for his testimony. More importantly, his wife, who according to the Venona decrypts was given a code name, was never even indicted. He spent 10 years in prison and was released in 1960, and has lived under an assumed name since his release. Decades later, in late 2001, Greenglass recanted and claimed that he had committed perjury when he testified about the typing activity of his sister Ethel. Greenglass said he chose to falsely testify against his sister in order to protect his wife and children.
[edit] Controversy
The Rosenberg case has always been a controversial issue, with opinion dividing along ideological lines. There are a number of points of contention which still hold, even after the VENONA revelations.
Ethel Rosenberg’s Involvement: While the preponderance of evidence indicates that Julius was involved in Soviet espionage, the record is unclear for Ethel. The VENONA transcripts are ambiguous as to Ethel's involvement, and her brother, David Greenglass, a key prosecution witness, later told his biographer Sam Roberts that he had perjured himself to lessen his own sentence and to help his wife avoid jail time. [3]
The Trial: There are many experts who have alleged that the political air of the time, and the seemingly pre-trial held beliefs by Judge Kaufman made it nearly impossible for the Rosenbergs to have had a fair trial by an impartial jury. The Rosenberg lawyer, Emanuel Bloch, also made a number of massive legal blunders (such as moving to impound Exhibit 8--a Greenglass sketch purporting to show a cross section of the implosion-type atom bomb, thereby in effect acquiescing in the prosecution's charge that the sketch was in fact the "secret of the atom bomb" and also not cross-examining Harry Gold, who in later trials was found to be highly unreliable) suggesting either his incompetence or inability to cope with such a high-profile trial. Also, prosecutor Roy Cohn influenced the choice of Kaufman as judge.
The Sentence: The imposition of the death sentence upon the Rosenbergs has been the most controversial aspect of the case, as they were sentenced far more harshly than any other "atomic spies." Klaus Fuchs, who spied for many more years than the Rosenbergs, provided far more sensitive nuclear information to the Soviet Union, and was caught, confessed, tried, convicted, and sentenced in the United Kingdom, received 14 years in jail, which was the maximum penalty in that nation for passing military secrets to friendly nations. In 1950 the Rosenbergs' conspiracy charge was prosecuted in the United States in the context of the Cold War and the concurrent Korean War, with Judge Kaufman placing culpability on the couple for the Korean War. It is not clear that the prosecution proved that the Rosenbergs' activities had caused the Korean War, even if they had given the Soviet Union the secret of the atomic bomb.
[edit] The Rosenbergs' children
The Rosenbergs' two sons, Robert and Michael, were orphaned by the execution, and no relatives dared adopt them for fear of ostracism or worse. They were finally adopted by the songwriter Abel Meeropol and his wife Anne. Abel Meeropol (under the pen name of Lewis Allan) wrote the classic anti-lynching anthem "Strange Fruit," made famous by singer Billie Holiday. He also co-wrote (with Earl Robinson) "The House I Live In", made famous in a short film starring Frank Sinatra to promote the war effort under a theme of tolerance for all types of Americans. (This song has a line referring to "My neighbors white and black" which was omitted from the film and Frank Sinatra's recorded versions. In the film all the characters, even the members of Sinatra's band are white.) Robert and Michael co-wrote a book about the experience, We are Your Sons: The Legacy of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg (1975), and Robert wrote another book in 2004, An Execution in the Family: One Son's Journey. In 1990, Robert founded the Rosenberg Fund for Children, a non-profit foundation which provides support for children whose parents are Leftist activists involved in court cases.
Michael's daughter, Ivy Meeropol, directed a 2004 documentary about her grandparents, Heir to an Execution, which was featured at the Sundance Film Festival.

Holloway based his assessment of the value of Fuchs's data in particular from the intelligence transcripts and the reactions of key Soviet personnel—especially Igor Kurchatov—to Fuchs' data. The exact use of espionage information by the Soviets was somewhat complicated, due to mutual distrust of the espionage data and the Soviet scientists themselves by Stalin and Beria: see Soviet atomic bomb project for more information.

This was just sent to me ......? what do you think?
One day, when I was a freshman in high school,
I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school.
His name was Kyle.
It looked like he was carrying all of his
books
I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a
Friday?
He must really be a nerd."
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my
friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping
him so he landed in the dirt.
His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten
feet from him.
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes
My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled
around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.
As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.
They really should get lives.
"He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"
There was a big smile on his face.
It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.
As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never
seen him before.
He said he had gone to private school before now.
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.
We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends.
He said yes.
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I
liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books
again.
I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious
muscles with this pile of books everyday!
"He just laughed and handed me half the books.
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.
When we were seniors, we began to think
about college.
Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I
was going to Duke.
I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be
a problem.
He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a
football scholarship.
Boy, sometimes I was jealous.
Today was one of those days.
I could see that he was nervous about his speech.
So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be
great!"
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and
smiled.
"Thanks," he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began
"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through
those tough years.
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but
mostly
your friends...
I am here to tell all of you that being a
friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.
I am going to tell you a story."
I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the
first day we met.
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't
have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
"Thankfully, I was saved.
My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy
told us all about his weakest moment.
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful
smile.
Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.

Reply:i think what you said was very beautful, and sometime someone
come into your life for a reason, they say some come for many
reasons, but you never will know what the purpose for them until
it over. but god bless you for being there for kyle, you made
a wondeful impact on someone that what life journey are about
you never know when you be in some one path.
Are you feeling alone then I want to share something with you ?
One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw
a kid from my class was walking home from school. His
name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his
books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring
home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a
nerd."
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football
game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I
shrugged my shoulders and went on.
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward
him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his
arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses
went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten
feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible
sadness in his eyes.
My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and
as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw
a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said,
"Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives." He looked
at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face.
It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where
he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him
why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private
school before now.
I would have never hung out with a private school kid
before. We talked all the way home, and I carried some
of his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I
asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my
friends. He said yes. We hung out all weekend and the
more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my
friends thought the same of him.
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the
huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said,
"Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles
with this pile of books everyday!" He just laughed and
handed me half the books.
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best
friends. When we were seniors, we began to think
about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I
was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be
friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He
was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business
on a football scholarship.
Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the
time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for
graduation.
I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and
speak. Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked great. He
was one of those guys that really found himself during high
school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.
He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.
Boy, sometimes I was jealous.
Today was one of those days. I could see that he was
nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back
and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" He looked at me
with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled.
"Thanks," he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and
began. "Graduation is a time to thank those who helped
you make it through those tough years. Your parents,
your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly
your friends. I am here to tell all of you that being a
friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I
am going to tell you a story."
I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the
story of the first day we met. He had planned to kill
himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had
cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do
it later and was carrying his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
"Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from
doing the unspeakable."
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular
boy told us all about his weakest moment.
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same
grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.
Never underestimate the power of your actions. With
one small gesture you can change a person's life. For
better or for worse.
God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another
in some way. Look for God in others.
"Friends are
angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have
trouble remembering how to fly."
Are you feeling alone then I want to share something with you ?
i woke this morning thinking how bad things were going in my life..i came across your story and read it...and all i can say is thanks for sharing that i can now see things in a different light
Reply:that was a great story. your use of details of the events makes it come to life without missing the point. it's nice to know there is still humanity left in this world. we need more acts of kindness in our society. thank you
Reply:Copying and pasting that bloody story, which I have had emailed to me so many times, and claiming it happened ot you, when in truth I bet it didnt happen at all, is not what this site is for.
Also, see this link on Snopes where they more or less discredit it as a story written in a book by someone else:
http://www.snopes.com/glurge/kyle.asp
And yes, this IS mean spirited. But I hate glurge. If you want to know how people and actions are related, read "an Inspector Calls", if you want to know about God, read the Bible. Just dont make untruths truths simply because you want them to be.
Reply:a lovely story hun but dont let a figment take the credit it was your good heart who saved him.If it were 'god' then why was only this Kyle saved and many others slipped through the net a god of love would not do this.he would sent a 'you' to each and every 'kyle' all praise is yours my love wear it!!!!!!!!!!
